(More customer reviews)This machine is made in China and comes with no instructions. There is a cryptic chart pasted to the top of the machine. I was able to figure out the threading sequence, but the throat plate was loose. There are no instructions for positioning the throat plate. It seems to need the needle holder and presser foot removed in order to reposition the throat plate, but the screw holding them is so soft it will not unscrew without destroying the fitting.
The drop in bobbin has a little chart for the correct alignment of the thread: counterclockwise or clockwise. x or o. What does that mean? Is it + or 0?
I have no idea.
I have searched in vain on line for instructions for this machine without success.

And we're going to assume that I didn't drive it to death by pulling a Frankenstein in the first place. Anyhow, I only need a few drops for that task... but then there were squeaky hinges, stuck drawers, etc etc. Surprising how useful this stuff is! It's worked wonders!

To see the eminently useful single needle gun-style buttoneer google 'buttoneer 2' and see the original ad from spiketv website. JoAnn now sells what they call "the original Buttoneer", which isn't -- the new double barrelled one is limited to short weak useless fasteners for only standard shirt buttons. In the 80's, Dennison refilled the TRUE original Buttoneer and Buttoneer 2, with strong nylon fasterners for buttons, & other lengths for home/auto repair, crafts. Ronco obviously sold the idea to JoAnn who pressed Dennison to stop making strong, useful fasteners of varied lengths. The NOT-original-buttoneer now sold really robs consumers. The blog reviews agree, but the as-seen-on-tv spammers push them so far down you never see the truth. What a great product this was and could have continued to be.

The item description even has the Kenmore/Sears part number mentioned along with the product picture used on the Sears website. When I received the my order I find that that this is a cheap imitation made by some other manufacturer. Even though the item itself was priced at $0.01, the shipping costs on this are $4.49 which is more than what it costs to buy at a Sears store. I'm asking for my money back.

(More customer reviews)I was skeptical about this set. The title says "Large" spools, and as I've learned in the past, Large usually means tiny little spools that are good for barely one project. Not these!
These threads are beautiful, they sew great (no fraying or breaking!!), and the colors are fantastic! I would recommend them to anybody! They really are large spools... not the huge overlock spools, but nice, thick, healthy amounts of thread. Buy them!

As I didn't know what I would need to start I felt this was a good entrance to supplies especially when you don't know what you need. I did feel as though it was a little pricey when I purchased, but it got me started. I quickly found out that I needed more. I was especially happy with the trimming scissors and I am still using them. If I had purchased this on the sale price, I would have given it 5 stars.

Singer 14SH654 FreeArm Overlock Sewing Machine Serger Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this serger from Walmart about a week ago. The low price is what lured me in, and I have not been terribly disappointed yet, considering what I paid for it. Sergers are fairly complex and take a lot more patience to operate than sewing machines. You can expect to put at least an hour or two into setting this machine up, and should plan on running a few scraps of fabric through it initially to adjust the tension dials, which can be a bit finicky and over-sensitive. The machine comes with a DVD that is INFINITELY more helpful than the manual, and with a lot of patience and several failed attempts, I was able to thread it correctly and produce a stitch. My only complaint is that the stitching can be inconsistent at times, no matter how much I fiddle with the tension dials, but I cannot say I expected a flawless machine at such a low price. This is a nice machine for those on a budget or who use their sergers lightly. I only use mine for finishing the edges of light-weight fabrics, and it suits my purposes quite well. A more expensive machine would probably function more consistently, true, but I'm thankful there's a serger out there that meets my more stringent budget!

I do regret that I did not read the numerous reviews on this item before purchasing it, or I may have passed on buying this model. I hope her and I are not dissapointed and she is able to enjoy it effortlessly for years to come. READ REVIEWS BEFORE PURCHASING so as to be able to make a more informed decision. I will say on the "JANOME" companies behalf that when they no longer had the model I purchased, the "4400", they shipped out immediately a much newer model the "4900". I had previously purchased a nice wooden sewing table with expandable sides, so that it looked like a piece of furniture. The reality was that it wasn't stout enough to handle the sewing machine so it was very uncomfortable to sew. This fit my needs perfectly and I'm very happy with it.

This is a slender needle that doesn't damage the material as larger needles might. I've been sewing white satin using these needles, and the results are very professional. I'd highly recommend them for this reason.

Singer CE-100 Futura Sewing and Embroidery Machine Review

(More customer reviews)What makes this product so attractive is that by connecting it to a computer you can get an endless amount of embroidery designs. It is also a full feature sewing machine.
I bought this item for my wife's birthday. It does everything that is advertised. The sewing functions are straight forward, and everything worked as it should.
The embroidery isn't as staight forward. The instructions are very poor, and limited. Although I have to admit, that I figured most of it out fairly quickly. The embroidery is slow, and of course you have to change thread for every color change in your pattern. The designs came out looking good. I also downloaded some free designs from other sites, and they worked just as well.
My problem with this machine is two fold. The one we bought broke after only a few hours of use. It was a minor problem. The bobbin holder had a crack where the tension screw goes in. At first everything was fine, but within a few hours the thread started catching in the crack until it was unusable. I'm sure that this won't be a problem for most customers.
The second problem is much more severe in my opinion. No one has parts for the machine, and it's near impossible to even get a parts list. One item that doesn't come with the machine that my wife wanted was a zipper foot. The part number for that item was listed in the book, but when I went to find it, absolutely no one had it. I even wrote Singer's part's department, and they wrote back telling me to call.
It's a neat machine. As long as you get one that works, and aren't concerned about parts availability, I don't think you can find a better ebroidery machine for less money.
